Merry Christmas and Higher Gatsby essay reminder
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful festive season and that you are all set for a productive and successful next term.
Reminder- Higher essay questions ( to be completed by Tuesday) are as follow- in case you missed them on the Gatsby notes page:
1. Choose a novel or short story in which a central character’s failure to understand the reality of his or her situation is an important feature of the text. Explain how the writer makes you aware of this failure and show how it important to your appreciation of the text as a whole.
2. Choose a novel, set in a time different from your own, with a theme relevant to the world today. Show how you are lead to an appreciation of the theme’s continuing relevance, despite its setting in time.
You should make a quick essay plan with at least three main body paragraphs following the SEXY/SEXEXY or TCQEL structure. Choose your quotes wisely to show off your analysis skills. Remember to analyse language techniques and symbolism used to create characterisation, setting, show main themes etc.
Good luck!

Farewell to Boroughmuir
It is with much sadness that I leave Boroughmuir High School and all of my wonderful students there. For any of you reading this, I am very proud to have been your teacher and I wish you all of the best in your future studies. I am sure that you will impress your new teacher as much as you have impressed me. Keep up the hard work.
